Your Complete Prelims Roadmap: What We've Done & What You Must Do Next
And if you do this, and do this sincerely — nothing will stop you from clearing PRELIMS.
This discussion is structured into two broad parts: Static Subjects and Current Affairs. Each subject has a dedicated test series, and for each, we'll walk you through what makes it challenging, what the tests cover, and — most importantly — your next steps.
Polity
Polity is Certainty. So, we cannot compromise on POLITY. If you get POLITY questions wrong, you won't clear PRELIMS easily. That's the bitter truth.
Polity is also one of the most predictable and masterable subjects in the entire syllabus. So there's no excuse not to ace it.
PT01 Polity – Static Foundations
PT01 is your bedrock Polity test — it covers the static portion comprehensively and gives you a real sense of where your understanding actually stands. What makes it stand out are the situational questions we've woven in. These aren't just recall questions; they push you to apply what you know, which is exactly how the real exam tests you.
A word of caution: some questions look deceptively simple but carry well-crafted distractors. Don't underestimate any option.
PT02 Polity – The Neglected Corners
PT02 deliberately targets the neglected areas of Polity that are increasingly being picked up by examiners and usually ignored by aspirants. It has 115 questions (15 extra beyond the standard 100) because some sections simply can't be tested properly in fewer questions.
Our principle is simple — it does not matter how many questions are asked, but what matters most to us is: how well have we covered the sections of the subject? And that ultimately decided the number of questions and tests.
In fact, in the original schedule we had planned around 14 STATIC tests, but in reality, we will be giving you nearly 20 STATIC tests. This is simply because we have to ensure your preparation is wholesome. Hence question numbers and test numbers don't matter much to us — what matters is the level of preparation.
PT03 Polity – The Honesty Test
This is again another of those tests that pushes you to your limits and challenges you — because you might have ignored certain sections of POLITY or have been reluctant to finish those sections properly. It simply checks whether you have been honest with your preparation, or have you just been lazy. Because it has questions like this:
At first glance, some questions may appear daunting — but every single one has a high probability of appearing in the actual exam. Difficult or not, we have to master it.
PT04 Polity – Twists, Tricks & Traps
Another POLITY test with loads of twists, tricks and traps. This covers the rest of the remaining sections of POLITY nicely. Here are some tricks and traps:
Geography
Geography is a high-yield area for Prelims, and the 2 tests we've designed pack a real punch. Together, they comprehensively cover NCERT Geography (both World and Indian Geography) as well as G.C. Leong — which are your essential resources for this subject.
Here's something worth appreciating: the 200 questions across these two tests are a distillation of content that could easily expand to 400+ questions if framed like the real exam. We've intentionally condensed and curated the knowledge so that every question is doing double (sometimes triple) duty in testing your understanding.
PT05 & PT06 Geography – World & India
These tests cover physical geography, climatology, oceanography, Indian geography, natural resources, and everything in between. The questions are designed to ensure nothing from your books slips through the cracks.
Ancient India
For Ancient India, 2 tests are given and they cover the whole syllabus nicely. The questions are exceptional and test everything that is there to be tested.
Ancient India Tests Comprehensive Coverage
Medieval India
Medieval India is an area where you can expect 2–3 questions at most in the actual exam. That said, the single test we've designed on this topic is knowledge-dense and thorough — covering the Delhi Sultanate, the Mughal period, regional kingdoms, and the socio-cultural landscape of the era.
The strategy here is straightforward: attempt the test, make targeted notes on whatever trips you up, revise, and reattempt.

Modern India
Modern India and the Prelims exam have a LOVE-HATE relationship. Some years bring 7–8 questions; other years, barely 1–2. But that unpredictability is precisely why you cannot afford to leave it incomplete.
If it shows up heavily and you haven't prepared, it could make the difference between clearing and missing the cutoff.
Our recommendation: follow Spectrum's Modern India exclusively for this subject. Read it multiple times.
We've given 3 tests on Modern India. The questions are knowledge-dense, difficult and really test your hold on Modern India.

Finish your Spectrum book first, then take the tests. Pay careful attention to the explanations — they often contain nuanced information that adds 5–10 marks to your final score.
