Thanks Team, amazed to see it.
My point is the fact you have mentioned is the mammoth source the beginner consult to. In this regard….
For example, the ncert where topics match, though the tune differ…like history…6th class to 8th class….than again in 11 th to 12th you have to go for it….still there is some amount to deal in tamil nadu history 11th….apart from refrences….
Is it right way…or i am in rat race…
Let me tell you why tamilnadu history book got famous – becasue that year there was a question regarding Sangam literature.
Of course , TN books are good and very crisp.
First read old ncert , then new and if time permits then TN ( Tn can act as ready reckoner as the facts are well organized unlike old ncert ) but at times TN book lacks the depth of NCERT. Hope your understand.
One more concern ….I have read subhas kashyp( parliament and constitution)…instead of laksmikant…..find myself eqipped in right amount.
Since i have not found successful candidates mentioning the book….i have certain uncertainty ……
Yes Subhas Kashyap is fine, D.D. Basu is also fine. But laxmikant is simple to understand, hence good for prelims.
hello sir… i would consider Ur path for us is very true to prepare ………please tell me is there any fees for taking online test series …….if it is how much….when to pay….
Thank you Prashi. The details will be provided by first week of Jan.
Sir from where we can get ocober nd November magazine?
You would have got a mail from us for November link. Hope it helps.
kindly do send me the link to download your november 2015 magazine.
Thanks and Regards
Here you go, it is not as polished as Dec magazine but the content is qualitative.
It’s a wonderful edition sir.
Actually i just wanted for maps. :p
i was simply bowled over by the detailed maps you attached with that south china sea discussion.
Though naive i am, but still like to make a humble suggestion.
Your ability to provide detailed and colored maps/diagrams is what makes your edition stands out, otherwise there are lot of editions out there in the market which can provide you with content but not enriching and fulfilling experience.
This is your US sir and hence please do not deviate in future from what you have started.
Thanks and Regards
Sir, i had registered for your essay test but neither have i received any information related to topic nor is your website showing it.

I have sight -10 and -13 with vision 6/18 and 6/24. My friends told me that there is some reservation for low vision. I couldnt understand the criteria clearly. Can u please tell me whether I’ll come under that category or not. If so , can u tell me what all I should have to submit along with the application. Thank u.
1)Plan / Non-Plan classification to be done away with from 2017-18,sir i dont understand wht if both are undeffrentiated, any way govt has to spend on them na?
2)i read many a times tht aadhar effects privacy hoe come sir?i mean it contain only biometric data n just name thts it na..,hw come it effects individual privacy sir,plz tell me sir am little bit confused
The main difference between plan and non planned is – plan expenditure creates assets where as non planned expenditure is spent to run the state functions (salary etc). The difference does not make any sense for the simple reason that – both are needed anyway. You have to build a house (asset) that does not mean that you need no food (expense ). Both are necessary. It was done with the purpose to distinguish how much of the expenses are creating asset (road, rail etc) and how much was spent to run a state .
Aadhar does affect privacy in the sense that – no one is sure how the data is protected and if one gets the hold of data – the negative consequences can be multi-fold (data mining to document forgery ). It does not exactly invade the privacy but it can be used to do so and that is why there is concern. For example data can be used to manipulate certain individual or community and build a consensus. However it is not as serious as the data collected by google or any other internet giants, where they can monitor your activity day in and day out.
What will be the cost of your test series ?
We will be providing the details soon ,Raaz.
Sir, when can I expect the essay demo test results? And i want to appreciate your initiative of essay tests to boost up the confidence sir. Keep up the good work and I want to be held every week to be practised over it. And also give daily gs 2 and gs3 questions to increase the analysing speed. Thank u sir.
Sir, I am preparing for upsc from this January. Will you please guide me how to prepare in this 7 months?
Chandrika, we will be providing the details very soon.
we are reviewing it now.
1) Kindly update the column ARC reports. It really helps to study the concise summary.
2) Kindly put the comment box on top as one has to scroll down to post his/her comments.
Thanks and Regards.
arc- we will publish it as a booklet, little later.
we have broke down the comment section , check now and let us know if it is fine .
1) Though you have broken the ask-us-anything section into two, but still it is desirable if the comment section is put on top.
2) We have to always enter the e-mail id and hence if there are multiple doubts regarding multiple sections then it is difficult.Kindly follow iasbaba, insightsonindia platform example where once you have logged in through disqus then no need for entering email id every time and also you get notified by email when a answer is given to your query.
3) Went through your December magazine and i liked your analysis and questions strategy.
Kindly do continue it because it helps in simultaneous preparation of pre as well as mains and builds your perspective instead of just cramming the facts.
4) The December magazine has a grey background. I suppose it was done to reduce the strain on eyes but it has few problems. 1st is that many people like me prefer a hard copy, so while it is OK to read on a laptop/tablet but when the print is taken out it gives a dark and gloomy appearance and hence takes the fun out of the reading. 2nd the font has been made small, perhaps to reduce number of pages, but i prefer the November edition font. 3rd you can instead of pure white background, prefer a slight off-white background which will solve both our purpose.
4) The issues are mentioned randomly.
Kindly classify the whole magazine into 4 sections of paper 1/2/3/4.
Then within each section, Kindly sub classify the topic into various sections. eg. paper 3 = environment = all issues in month related to environment to be put under this.
It will surely increase your job but it will make the magazine much easier to handle, give a complete overview of preparation so that we are assures that each and every topic has been completed.
5) Please have a look at insightsonindia November 2015 magazine for paper classification + Topic Mentioning on each of the news item.
Sorry to mention other websites name on your portal but no option there to give as a reference 😛
Thank you For the feedback. We will look in to it.
Ok sir.. I will wait.
Will you be giving personal Guidance and feed back on performance in Prelims and mains test? What will be the cost? Can a student pay it in instalment?
Anurag – the details will be provided soon.We encourage you to take the prelims demo test I and Essay demo Test II (can be found in our home page ) in the meanwhile – For essay we are giving personalized feedback..
Sure Sir. I will send my essay to you for your feedback. Waiting for your Plan.
What is the upper age limit for a general category student to apear in UPSC 2016 Examination.
It was published in Chattisgargh hindi daily that UPSC is going to reduce the age limit by 2 years, is it true ?
32…We don’t think so. It will be a retrograde step..it was suggested some time back but was never implemented.
Hi, the magazines you are providing are excellent, but they available from December 2015, can you list down important topics from earlier months as well, like from August 2015-November 2015. This wud complete the current affairs portion.

by 27 we will publish it.

thank u upsc tree team
Sir please tell me how to take concrete preparation for science and technology, environment– both statics part and current affairs.
S & T –
NCERT books for fundamentals
There are few books , but they are irrelevant now, the S&T questions are mainly framed from current affairs now a days and having a sound fundamental (NCERT) is necessary as fundamental questions are asked sometimes too.
Start with NCERT and then review the current affairs – that will do.
sir iam graduation final year and my subject are mathematics and physics but i want choose economics optional ,i have no degrre in economics and never read .so iam very tired and confused how choose optional subject in upsc exam pls gide sir which subject better for me in optional in exam
About ” Monetary Policy Committee”
RBI Governor will not have power to vote in committee unless there is tie.
and there will be six member in committee including then how tie is a possibility if Governor will not vote in first instance.
Please clarify what’s wrong in my understanding. Because the IAS officers that have framed this were surely champion in CSAT 😀
Let us check that out 🙂
It depends which subject you are comfortable and have natural interest on it. Our suggestion would be to check the syllabus , previous year question and then see if you can cover them and whether you have certain degree of familiarity with the subject.Difference between any arts subject and science subject is that – for arts subject such as history or geography or economy – you can develop the understanding in a short span of time. But for science subject , you need time. However , if you have good deal of understanding of science subject for example your graduation subject such as math or physics etc- they can be beneficial for high scoring.the best bet would be – you check the syllabus – see your comfort level, then check the question of last years and see if they appears non alien to you or not. Moreover, see how much work is needed for each – that can help you in deciding.
sir i have one doubt, these days u r giving more editorials ,will these were added in monthly magazine or else do we need to read them saperatly n make print out, askng bcos i will read directly monthly magazine, not read daily,so i may miss editorials, pls answer my question

Will you provide a subject wise/topic wise compilation of it, along with detailed explanation at the end of month??
If u can do this, it will really be beneficial for working professionals like me.
Thx and Regards
We can provide monthly compilation. Giving elaborate explanation is little taxing on static portion but many have requested for it. So let’s see what we can do about it. Thank you for letting us know on this. We are certainly planning for it, it is just a matter of time.

Thanks for your kind words.at present we dont have any initiative running for gs writing due to the focus on prelims ,however we are planning to launch gs writing initiative post prelims. Even if we launch now many won’t write due to prior engagement with prelims.but post prelims we will certainly launch the program for gs.currently the only writing initiative is daily debates and the topics covers 4 gs papers.if possible write them and we do review it as well.

how nepal got 108 rank in world risk index by UNUIE and UNU EHS , even india got 77 rank only?
All natural events are not disasters, for example if there is an
earthquake or volcanic eruption in a non-inhabited region, it may not be
categorized as disaster, instead it will simply be a natural
hazard. What makes a natural events a disaster is the human component –
that is threats to human life , properties ,livestock etc.Without the
human component it will not be a disaster.
if we compare Nepal and India, almost all parts of India are prone to
one disaster or other, and given the high number of population and
especially the high number of population inhabiting risk prone zones are
high ,thus owing to its vast geography and population along with
inadequate critical infrastructure makes India more prone than Nepal.
Nepal may endure more natural hazard but if there are no or very less people inhabit these region or if they have critical infrasture it may fair well as compared to India.
Although we have not checked the indices used to calculate the disaster index , but the logic seems straight forward.
Sir how to download monthly mag of current affair…
Hope you are doing good and preparation is going well.
You can register at our student portal – open for all and once registered you can download the magazines.
Sir your contribution to society is quite appreciable . what do we mean by industry driven institution? explain with the example
Akshay, kindly let us know if you are referring to something particular.
On a different note industry driven institutions means the institutions were created to cater to industries. One example can be ITI where the institutions were created to impart certain industry specific knowledge and skill the manpower to be employable in those specific industries . Hope this clarifies
Yes got clarity….Thanks for the support
